2020 - 2024 Black Abstract
The project ‘Black Abstract’ is a deliberate exploration of abstraction and essence through the creation of 101 black reliefs without specific meaning or reference. Using polystyrene as the material and applying layers of black matte paint, autonomous reliefs were created, free from external influences. The goal of creating one hundred reliefs provided structure and significance to the project, making it a focused and impactful endeavor.
Throughout the creative process, 64 short stories were written, reflecting the artist’s personal experiences during the creation process. These stories were written to support the completion of the artistic process. While these stories were not directly illustrated by the reliefs, they created a connection and provided insight into the artist’s journey as a visual artist. They contributed to the overall concept of the project and heightened its complexity.
The next phase of the project involves creating a book that combines images of the reliefs, the stories, and the design by an independent designer. This book aims to be a conceptual artist’s book, distinguishing itself from a simple catalog of the depicted objects. By combining visual ele- ments, stories, and design, the connection between different expressive forms within the project is strengthened. The ‘Black Abstract’ project is a multidimensional exploration of abstraction, sto- rytelling, and the autonomy of art. It seeks to transcend traditional boundaries and invite viewers to delve into the deeper layers of meaning and creative expression within the work.
